What we build

Every layer of a product, from the device on the wall to the screen in someone's hand.

ItemWhat it isBuilt with
1Web and mobile appsWebsites and iPhone and Android apps that people sign in to, pay through and keep using when the signal drops.React, React Native, Swift, TypeScript
2Cloud infrastructureThe servers, databases and storage behind an application, set up to grow with demand, stay secure and release updates through an approved, automated process.Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Cloud Build), Azure, Kubernetes
3Modernising older systemsThe older software an organisation depends on, moved to the cloud, fixed and extended without breaking what already works, and new Windows and desktop programs.C++, Rust, C#/.NET, Java
4Data systems and integrationsDatabases, and the connections that keep stores, devices and the cloud working from the same records.PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MQTT, gRPC
5AI assistantsAssistants inside your software that answer questions from your own records and change nothing until a person approves it.Any major AI model, or an open model on your own servers
6Custom hardwarePurpose-built devices assembled from off-the-shelf parts and running Linux: sensors, data loggers, headsets and embedded boards.Linux, single-board computers, sensors

Work

Products we designed and built.

Subscription software platform

TrainKeep

A subscription platform with a web app, iPhone and Android apps and card payments, live on the web, the App Store and Google Play in six languages, Spanish among them. Personal trainers build programs, meal plans and check-ins on the web; their athletes log every set in the app, online or off.

  • 1Coach web app: roster, program builder, progress charts, billing
  • 2Athlete app for iPhone and Android, built to log a set one-handed

It runs on Google Cloud in the United States, set up and operated by us: servers that add capacity as demand grows, a web application firewall in front of them, passwords and keys held in a managed vault, encrypted storage, a database backup before every change to its structure, and releases that pass automated tests and an approval before they go live.

Built with Rust, PostgreSQL, React, React Native, Paddle

Runs on Google Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage and Cloud CDN, Cloud Tasks, a load balancer with Cloud Armor, Cloud Build

AI assistant

Spotter

An assistant inside TrainKeep. A coach asks in plain words, "who needs me today?" or "message all my athletes on Monday", and Spotter looks the answer up in that coach's own data.

  • 1Answers from the coach's own athletes, plans and logs, in six languages
  • 2Every change waits on a card until the coach confirms it

Built with Rust, tool calls over TrainKeep's own API; the AI model can be swapped for another

3D facial analysis

JanuScan

Built for medical spas: an iPad and iPhone app that scans a patient's face with the device's 3D camera, scores 23 facial proportions and previews a lip treatment on the patient's own 3D face, with a web portal where clinics manage patients and staff.

  • 1A 3D model of the face, 1,220 points, reshaped live on the device
  • 2Volume, ratio and projection tuned against the patient's real geometry

Built with Swift, SwiftUI, ARKit, SceneKit, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, React

Experience

Every engagement is led by the principal engineer, who writes the code.

Frank Rincon Principal Engineer and founder

Frank's career has been spent on large, long-lived systems at public companies, where a failure reaches a police officer, a patient's claim or a customer's card: law-enforcement software and video security used by government agencies, health-insurance claims, and fuel-station point of sale and payments. Frank owns the work end to end, from requirements and architecture to the build, the release and the production support behind it.

  • Architecture and design for new product initiatives, presented to product leadership and third-party vendors
  • Technical leadership through code review and mentoring of engineering teams
  • Resolving customer escalations on systems running at customer sites
  • Moved law-enforcement software from local servers to the cloud
  • Designed, built and runs TrainKeep end to end: the Rust API, the web app, the iPhone and Android apps and the Google Cloud infrastructure they run on

Fuel retail and payments

Point-of-sale software for fuel stations: pumps, payments, loyalty and accounting. The link that keeps each store's records in step with the cloud, and AI tools that sort and investigate defect reports.

Motorola Solutions

Public safety and government

Avigilon video security, used by government agencies: software that spreads the recording and analysis of camera footage across many servers. StateLink, one place for law enforcement to search federal and state databases, moved from local servers to the cloud.

Optum, UnitedHealth Group

Health insurance

Claims management software for health insurance, running in the cloud.

Why Trainkeep

Delivered in a fraction of the usual time

We consistently cut delivery time by 80%. The engineer you talk to is the one writing the code, so nothing waits on a hand-off. TrainKeep's web app and iPhone and Android apps, in six languages, were built in six months.

Experience where mistakes are costly

Law-enforcement search, video security for government agencies, health-insurance claims and card payments: systems that have to stay correct and stay up.

Contracted the way you need

Fixed price when the scope is clear, time and materials when it is found together. As prime contractor or subcontractor, remote from Utah or on site.

Everything handed over, no lock-in

The source code, tests, installers and documentation, so you own the system and can maintain it without us.

Government
